Miller signs copies of first two books in series
A steady stream of customers turned out Saturday to help support a local author.
Jennifer Julie Miller, of Ironton, signed copies of her books, “The Water Skippers and “A Dragonfly’s Whisper,” at Consigned Books on Third Street.
Miller, who works as a blazer at Liebert, began self-publishing her work, which is set locally in the Lake Vesuvius area, in 2015.
“It’s gone absolutely amazing,” she said of the turnout, her first signing at the store, which opened downtown last year. She has had one prior signing at the Briggs Lawrence Public Library.
“It’s all based on folklore,” she said of the fantasy fiction series. “People say dragonflies can see dreams.”
Those who bought both books received a dragonfly bracelet. Miller said her third book, “Earth Shadow,” will be coming out later this year.
“It’s been a roller coaster ride,” she said. “People ask, ‘When is the next one coming out?’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, somebody liked it!’”
Miller’s books are available on Amazon as eBooks and paperbacks. Signed copies are available at Consigned Books. She publishes through CreateSpace, but she said all her posters and promo materials are printed locally.
“We want to give back to the community,” she said. “They’re the ones supporting me.”
