Chesapeake’s Davis to coach in N/S game

The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association annual North/South All-Star games will be held Friday at two different sites.
The girls’ games will be held at Denison University in Granville while the boys’ will play at Otterbein University in Westerville.
The boys’ Division I-II game will begin at 6:30 follow by the Div. III-IV game at approximately 8 p.m.
Chesapeake Panthers’ Ryan Davis will serve as the head coach for the South’s Div. III-IV boys’ team. Davis has an overall record of 259-118 in 16 seasons including 177-65 at Chesapeake and 221-87 over 13 years in Ohio at Chesapeake and Peebles.
He coached three years in Indiana and reached the Final Four. He has won 12 sectional titles, four district and one regional in Ohio including Chesapeake’s only state tournament appearance in 2010.
Vinton County’s Matt Combs will be the South’s Div. I-II head coach.
The same schedule applies for the girls’ games.
Representing the Southeast district boys will be Logan Elm’s Ridge Young (D2) and Waterford’s Jordan Welch (D4) and Sciotoville East’s Akia Brown (D4).
Representing the girls are Chillicothe’s Osh Brown (D2), Waverly’s Laken Smith (D2), Alexander’s Leah Richardson (D3) and Portsmouth Notre Dame’s Hagen Schaefer (D4)
There will be numerous awards presented at each site including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and scholarship winners.
