Meth a theme in common pleas cases

Methamphetamine was the subject of numerous court cases this week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

• Randall A. Epilon, 53, of 96 Private Drive 501, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to one count possession of drugs (heroin), a fifth-degree felony, and one count operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor. Judge Andy Ballard sentenced him to four years community-controlled sanctions (CCS) under intensive supervised probation (ISP) with 11 months prison reserved, suspended his driver’s license for one year and ordered him to pay a $500 fine.

• Brad Jenkins, 28, of 1107 S. Fourth Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to two counts trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), felonies of the third-degree. Judge Ballard placed him on a $100,000 OR bond with GPS home confinement monitoring until his sentencing date. Judge Ballard set a sentencing for Nov. 15.

• Kala Moore, 28, of 1774 State Route 503, Wurtland, Kentucky, admitted CCS violations. Judge Ballard sentenced her to seven months in prison with credit for about a month of time served.

• Michael Schumann, 31, of 2843 State Route 207, Lot 5, Chillicothe, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a fifth-degree felony. Schumann has already spent 97 days in jail, exceeding his sentence, which allowed him to be released.

• Rickey A. Waddle Jr., age unknown, of 1115 S. Third Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to three counts trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all felonies of the third-degree. Judge Ballard placed him on a $100,000 OR bond with GPS home confinement monitoring until his sentencing date. Judge Ballard set sentencing for Nov. 15.

• Stephen R. Jenkins, age and address unknown, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced him to three years prison with credit for time served.

• Cheyenne Belville, 18, of 1412 S. First Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to one count aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a felony of the fifth-degree, and one count possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. She was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Judge Cooper ordered her to complete treatment at Mended Reeds and complete 200 hours community service. In exchange for a guilty plea in the case, another case involving a fourth-degree receiving stolen property charge was nolled by the state.

• Emily Clark, 29, of 2301 S. Sixth Street, Apt. B, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth-degree. Judge Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and $10,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Nov. 15.

• Travis Edwards, 25, of 906 McGovney Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. He was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Judge Cooper ordered him to complete STAR and 200 hours community service.

• William Waddell III, 26, of 1210 McGovney Street, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Judge Cooper set bond at $15,000 cash or surety, and $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Nov. 8.

• Brian Woodyard, 37, of 213 Township Road 1103, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a felony of the fifth-degree. Judge Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety or property, and $10,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Nov. 15.

• Timothy Powell, 47, of 227 County Road 407, South Point, admitted CCS violations. Judge Cooper sentenced him to 15 months in prison with credit for time served.

• Jerry D. Stapleton, 37, of 809 N. Fourth Street, Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Judge Cooper sentenced him to seven months in prison with credit for time served. In another pending case, Stapleton is facing one count possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and one count failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. Pretrial for that case is set for Nov. 27.

• Sheila M. Walls, 59, of 103 Township Road 323, Ironton, pleaded guilty to attempted theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charge was reduced from a theft charge, which would have been a fifth-degree felony. Judge Cooper sentenced her to three years probation.
