Lady Tigers bomb their way past SP

SOUTH POINT — The Bomb Squad.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers were hitting from long range as they knock down 11 3-point goals en route to a 63-44 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Lady Pointers on Thursday.
Lexie Arden and Riley Schreck drained four each while Lexie Wise hit three long-range shots.
Arden finished with a game-high 26 points while Wise had 23 points including 8-of-10 at the foul line. Schreck finished with 12 points.
South Point (9-8, 6-5) was led by Madison Kearns with 12 points and Emilee Whitt with 10. Leah Lawson added nine points.
Arden came out bombing as she scored 13 points in the first quarter including three trifectas. Schreck hit three more triples as Ironton took a 2716 lead.
Whitt hit two 3-poiners and scored eight points while Kearns scored six points in the first quarter.
Arden continued to fly her B-52 as she hit another 3-pointer and scored nine points and Schreck buried another 3-pointer and it was 42-25 at the break.
Lawson had four points and Maddy Khounlavong hit a 3-pointer for South Point in the second quarter.
Wise took over in the third quarter as she dropped a couple of bombs through the basket and went 3-or-4 at the line for nine points and it was 55-34.
Kearns and Kate Mundy hit 3-pointers in the third for South Point.
Wise was 4-of-4 at the line and Lydia Hannan went 2-for-2 while Haylee Stevens hit a basket and Ironton sealed the outcome.
South Point’s Ashley Perkey scored four points in the fourth.
On Saturday at the Tackett’s Body Shot Shootout at Ironton, the Lady Tigers face Portsmouth Notre Dame at 5:15.
South Point plays at Russell on Saturday and Rock Hill on Monday. Ironton hosts Coal Grove on Monday.
