Youth turkey hunt set for April 20, 21
Pre-registration must be complete by April 7
KITTS HILL — The South Hills Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is hosting its annual Jakes Youth Turkey Hunt on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at Mamre Baptist Church in Kitts Hill.
The event is for youth hunters of all skill levels and their parents, and first-time hunters are encouraged to attend.
“This is an opportunity for kids to get away from the TV for a day and discover how exciting the outdoors can be,” Bill Mullins, NWTF member, said. “It’s also a great time for kids to connect with their parents or grandparents by doing hands-on activities they both enjoy.”
The event will include supervised activities, such as a basic hunter safety class, a youth turkey hunt, archery, skeet shooting and turkey calling demonstrations, giveaways, door prizes and awards to hunters who harvest their first turkey.
Registration is free for Jakes members and $10 for non-Jakes members for an annual Jakes membership. Pre-registration is required by April 7, and can be found at www.southhillslongbeards.org by clicking the Jakes tab with the signup form at the bottom of the page. Mamre Baptist Church is located at 2367 County Road 182 in Kitts Hill.
