Group seeking nominations for monthly awards

Ironton In Bloom will have its annual Mother’s Day flower sale beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Ironton Spray Park parking lot at the corner of Second and Vernon streets.

There will be a wide variety of hanging baskets and potted flowers available in all sizes and prices. Also as part of the flower sale, from 10 a.m.-noon, the group will also be serving layered tacos and chips and salsa, with the chips and salsa being donated by Toro Loco.

Donations will also be accepted to assist with the purchasing and maintenance of the pole planters, pots and hanging baskets throughout the city.

The flower sale Saturday will be part of the city’s first Second Saturday event, which will feature the farmers market, a citywide yard sale, activities and more.

In addition, Ironton In Bloom is currently seeking nominations for its Business of the Month award each month and its Yard of the Month award, which is awarded to homes with beautiful flowers and landscaping every month from May through September.

There will also be a focus on local churches in the community in July as well.
