Teams needed for Kingz of the Kourtz basketball tournament

Youth, adult spots open

The fourth annual Kingz of the Kourtz Memorial Day Classic basketball tournament is still accepting teams for all of the youth divisions as well as the adult bracket.

The tournament will take place Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 at the 9th Street playground courts in Ironton.

Youth divisions of the tournament include ages 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17, and entry  for each is free. Four players are needed per team for each of the youth divisions, which event director Antonio Murphy said around five teams are still needed for each youth division.

In the adult bracket, the cost to enter a team is $500, and eight players are needed for each team.

Murphy said there are still three available spots for adult teams in the tournament and there will be a total of 16 teams in the adult bracket. The winning team in the adult bracket will win the grand prize of $5,000.

Each youth division, as well as the adult bracket, will be double elimination.

The deadline to enter teams into the tournament is Monday, May 21.
