Festival of Trees starts tonight

Activities through Saturday at chamber of commerce

SOUTH POINT — Holiday festivities are taking place this weekend at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Festival of Trees.

In addition to viewing numerous Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations that will be up for bid, numerous events are also taking place:

Today
• 3-8 p.m. Live reindeer
• 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Santa Claus
• 5-9 p.m. Live entertainment

Saturday
• 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Santa Claus
• 1-3 p.m. Kids Day Activities: magic show, balloon art, cookies and milk, visits with Santa and face painting. Admission for Kids Day activities is one can of non-perishable food, which will be donated to a local food pantry.
• 1-6 p.m. Live reindeer
• 3:30-9 p.m. Live entertainment

Jeremiah 38 Ministries, along with 15 other area churches, is also putting on a “Drive-Thru Christmas: The Life of Christ,” for vehicles to drive through The Point industrial park and see, hear and feel the entire gospel of Christ as it is narrated.

The drive will cover from the manger to resurrection, with 14 different scenes being displayed. The event is sponsored by Quality Care Nursing Services, and will be from 6-9 p.m. tonight and Saturday.
