5 get prison on variety of charges

Numerous other cases heard at common pleas

Five defendants received prison sentences for a variety of charges this week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

• Lisa Hammonds, 36, of 153 Township Road 89, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony. Judge Christen Finley sentenced her to 30 months in prison with credit for time served.

• Danny R. Stickler, 19, of 1418 S. Second St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Finley sentenced him to 36 months in prison.

• Harley Crance, 24, of 1715 S. Fifth St., Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (heroin, methamphetamine), three fourth-degree felonies and one third-degree felony, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a felony of the fifth-degree. Judge Andy Ballard sentenced him to 48 months in prison and ordered him to pay court costs. He will be eligible for judicial release to STAR after one year if he maintains a clean record in prison.

• Sally J. Edie, 46, of 1311 Renaissance Circle, Charleston, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to grand theft, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard sentenced her to one year in prison with credit for time served.

• Nicholas Griffith, 29, of 1515 S. Third St., Room 5, Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (oxycodone), a fourth-degree felony. Ballard sentenced him to 17 months in prison. He will be eligible for judicial release to STAR after six months if he maintains a clean record in prison.

In other cases:

• Claude D. Allen, 27, of 2460 County Road 52, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Finley sentenced him to four years community-controlled sanctions (CCS) under intensive supervised probation (ISP) with 11 months reserved, and ordered him to continue treatment.

• Justin E. Lambert, 22, of 236 County Road 3, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to theft of the elderly, a fifth-degree felony, disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony, and two counts of domestic violence, both misdemeanors of the first-degree. Finley continued a $1,500 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $10,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for Feb. 6.

• Ryan D. Langley, 39, of 7047 County Road 15, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Finley set bond at $2,500 cash or surety and $2,500 OR. Pretrial was set for Feb. 6.

• Erica M. Pennington, 31, of 1516 Carter Ave., Suite F, Ashland, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony. Finley continued a $5,000 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $5,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for Feb. 6.

• Angel M. Baldwin, 31, of 1652 Beech St., Apt. 1, Ashland, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $2,000 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $20,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for Jan. 23.

• Nicholas Barton, 20, of 3016 County Road 12, Proctorville, previously pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, in one case, and aggravated arson, a first-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, in another case. Ballard set a pretrial for Jan. 16, where he will receive a final offer. If he rejects that offer, trial is set for March 11-12.

• April E. Chandler, 35, of 58 Racetrack Hill, Raceland, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $100,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Feb. 13.

• Amanda Dean, 40, of 936 27th St., Huntington, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. She was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Ballard ordered her to complete treatment at Mended Reeds with weekly testing and 200 hours community service.

• Delbert Dean, 40, of 1319 County Road 12, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Jan. 23.

• Patricia D. Franklin, 46, of 707 Township Road 269, Pedro, pleaded not guilty to six counts of illegal processing of drug documents, three fifth-degree and three fourth-degree felonies. Ballard set bond at $35,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Jan. 15.

• Edward S. Holmes Jr., 40, of 723 Mulberry St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to intimidation, a third-degree felony, and aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor of the first-degree. Ballard sentenced him to 180 days in jail suspended, two years CCS, and ordered him to continue treatment and pay court costs.

• Eugene Likens, 34, of Holiday Lane, Apt. 8C, Proctorville, previously pleaded not guilty to trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in heroin and trafficking in drugs (Suboxone), all fifth-degree felonies, in one case, and escape, a second-degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and vandalism, a fifth-degree felony, in another case. Ballard set a final pretrial for Feb. 13, where he will receive a final offer. If he rejects that offer, trial is set for March 11-12.

• Angela D. Spurlock, 45, of 242 Township Road 1026, South Point, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Jan. 23.
