SOUTH POINT — Eight was too much.
The South Point Lady Pointers said good-bye to eight seniors during senior night on Tuesday and all eight had a hand in a 4-3 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference soccer game.
“My seniors stepped up big-time tonight,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Erin Jenkins.
“All of my seniors played their hearts out tonight. We lost eight seniors after this season and they will be missed deeply. Emilee Whitt has scored six goals in the last two games. She has really stepped up offensively for us.”
While Whitt was able to find the back of the net twice, freshman Jaycie Walters was able to convert a penalty kick and senior Jenna Clary scored her first career goal.
Kylee Ellison had an assist to aid the Lady Pointers’ win.
Jenkins had nothing but praise for the Lady Panthers.
“Chesapeake stepped up their defense in the second half and their goalkeeper had an excellent game,” said Jenkins. “Their keeper doesn’t give up easy goals. Every goal scored against her is a high-quality earned goal.”
