Helping those in need

Each year, Harvest for the Hungry food pantry helps to make Thanksgiving better for low income families in Lawrence County.

Families are given a large assortment of food, enough to create a dinner for the holiday.

But this effort could not take place without community support.

Last week, Ironton First Nazarene had a community concert and raised $1,508 for the pantry, while the National Wild Turkey Federation, as they do each year, will make a donation of turkeys purchased from raffle and event proceeds.

But there is still need as the holiday approaches and we encourage all who can to help toward the pantry’s goals.

According to pantry director Diane Porter, monetary donations will help them with the bulk purchases of turkeys for the dinner packages.

These can be sent to Harvest for the Hungry, PO Box 153, Ironton, Ohio, 45638.

Your generosity could make a huge difference for those in need this season.
