Lexie Arden was back in the zone and that put the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers in the winner’s circle.
Arden scored 19 points as Ironton downed the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 56-29 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Evan Williams added 11 points as seven players were in the scoring column among the 11 who played.
Hannah Hughes finished the game with 14 points to lead Portsmouth (3-5, 1-5).
Arden and Kirsten Williams scored 4 points each and Evan Williams hit a 3-pointer as Ironton took a 14-3 first quarter lead.
Riley Schreck drained a trifecta and scored 5 points while Evan Williams also scored 5 points in the second quarter to offset 6 points by Hughes as Ironton extended its lead to 29-9 at the break.
Nia Trinidad scored 6 of her 8 points in the third quarter as Portsmouth outscored Ironton 12-11 and it was 40-21. Five different players scored in the quarter for Ironton (6-1, 5-1).
Arden buried a trey and scored 11 points early in the fourth quarter as Ironton put the game away.
Hughes had 6 more points in the quarter including a 3-pointer.
Ironton plays at 3 p.m. on Sunday against Olentangy in the Ironton Classic.
