Two men who skipped their trial on drug charges are now facing new charges.

James M. Daniel Jr., 30, of Wayne, Mich., and Eugene Walmsley, 28, of St. Inkster, Mich., were each indicted this week on one count of failure to appear.

Both men were scheduled to stand trial last month on drug charges but neither showed up in court the day their trial was supposed to begin. Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge D. Scott Bowling issued bench warrants for their arrests.

Their alleged co-hort, Chartese Love, of Huntington, W.Va., did come to court for trial, pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine and will be sentenced Oct. 8.

The same was true of Carl Wayne Salyers, of Rush, Ky., who was indicted on a charge of failure to appear after he showed up in court for arraignment on a charge of receiving stolen property but never returned for any pretrial conferences.

The grand jury met Monday and Tuesday. According to information from the office of Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier, Jr., the grand jury handed down 30 indictments. Of those, six were secret and were drug-related. Others indicted were:
