Trial date set in injury lawsuit

SOUTH POINT — A trial date has been set in a case involving the South Point Board of Education over an incident that allegedly happened at the South Point High School on Dec. 16, 2007.

On Dec. 16, 2009, Wanda Clay and Fred Clay, both of South Point, filed a complaint with Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

In it the couple allege that “Wanda Clay tripped and fell over a floor covering negligently installed and maintained by the defendant … As a result of the trip and fall, Clay received injuries that required medical treatment, caused her to incur medical expenses, endure pain and suffering and mental anguish, have a permanent injury and will require her to incur future medical expenses.”

The suit also alleged that Clay incurred lost earnings and wages. The lawsuit seeks an amount in excess of $25,000 and a jury trial.

That trial is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2011. The Clays are represented by Ironton attorney Mark McCown
