Drugs, theft and burglary were among the alleged crimes getting attention last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Dannie R. Martin, 36, of Huntington, W.Va., was arraigned on one count of theft. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Chris Delawder.

Judge D. Scott Bowling set a $25,000 own recognizance (OR) bond and scheduled a pretrial conference for this week.

Steven R. Baldwin Jr, 25, 176 Township Road 1110, Proctorville, was arraigned on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

“My client is 26 years old. He has a son age 4 and he does have a drug problem,” Baldwin’s attorney, Warren Morford said on Baldwin’s behalf. “He will readily admit to that. You can look and see the tracks on his elbows. He has a severe problem with Oxycodone.”

Judge Charles Cooper set a $50,000 cash bond and told Baldwin to return to court this week for a pretrial conference.

Eric Collins, 20, 3997 State Route 243, Ironton, faces two counts of grand theft of firearms.

He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Mike Gleichauf. Cooper allowed a bond set in a lower court to continue and scheduled an April 21 pretrial conference.

James G. Cassity, 37, of 202 Anna Clinton St., South Point, was arraigned on two counts of theft.

He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, David Reid Dillon. Bowling allowed a bond posted in a lower court to continue and added a $25,000 OR bond.

James Cassidy must return to court April 21 for a pretrial conference.

John G. Cassidy, 39, also of 202 Anna Clinton St., South Point, was arraigned on two counts of theft as well.

He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Luke Styer.

Bowling allowed a bond posted in a lower court to continue and added a $25,000 OR bond. John Cassidy must also return to court April 21 for a pretrial conference.

Joshua B. Kelly, 24, of 305 Depot St., Coal Grove, was arraigned on one count of burglary.

Cooper set bond a $50,000 OR bond with electronically monitored home confinement.

Kelly was ordered to stay away from his victim and return to court April 21 for a pretrial conference.

Oscar Cremeans, 37, of 807 First St., Chesapeake, was arraigned on one count of theft.

He pleaded not guilty through his attorney. Mike Gleichauf. Bowling set a $25,000 OR bond and an April 28 pretrial conference date.

Reva Whaley, 38, 7196 State Route 243, South Point, was arraigned on one count of theft from the elderly.

She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Gleichauf, Bowling allowed bond set in a lower court to continue and added a $25,000 OR bond to it.

Whaley must return to court April 28 for a pretrial conference.

Sandra K. Compston, 27, 210 Township Road 1061, Proctorville, was arraigned on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of theft.

She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Warren Morford.

Bowling allowed a $5,000 surety bond posted in a lower court to continue and added a $25,000 OR bond to it. She must return to court April 28 for a pretrial conference.
