Hecla plans to keep water flowing to customers

Hecla Water Association intends to continue supplying its customers with water despite this weekend’s power outage.

“We don’t have any plans for water to be off,” Tony Howard of Hecla said Monday morning. “We are trying to carry generators around to water tanks and move them around.”

Massive storms that hit Friday night cut power to almost 50 per cent of AEP’s Lawrence County customers.

“Things can happen,” Howard said. “We can have leaks or a generator can run out of fuel. But we don’t have any plans for anyone to be out of water.”

The county engineer crews plan to haul additional fuel to Hecla for those generators.
