“She has really been a pioneer in women’s leadership,” Kristi Barnes, member of the conference steering committee, said. “In addition to having a strong history in leadership when women’s roles were less visible, she was civically engaged taking over positions in philanthropy.”

Campbell was instrumental in getting WJEH on the air and managed the station until 1967. She also worked to get WLMJ on the air in Jackson. She was corporate director of community affairs for AVCO Broadcasting Corp in Cincinnati. She has also served as executive vice president for the Holzer Foundation.

This is the third year for the conference whose long-time mission is to fund a scholarship for a full-time student at OUS.

“Our goal is to celebrate women, empower women and come together to celebrate women’s issues,” Barnes said.

Besides the keynote luncheon, the conference will offer sessions on the following topics: fashion, blogging, exercise, essential oils, wellness, finance and alternative medicine.

“Some of these topics we have tried in the past that are well-received by the audience,” Barnes said. “We are kind of broadening our base to include technology-based sessions and looking at sessions that tap into all areas of women’s health and well-being.”

Registration deadline is Friday with the all-day event and lunch to cost $30 with a $20 fee for students.
