PROCTORVILLE — There wasn’t any secret to how the Chesapeake Panthers turned the game around.

Panthers’ coach Ryan Davis didn’t unveil any special strategy as his team beat the Fairland Dragons 67-55 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chesapeake fell behind 24-12 in the first quarter but rebounded in the second quarter by outscoring the Dragons 23-9 to take a 35-33 lead.

“We started off slowly again. Nothing went well. Everything seemed to be going so slow,” said Davis.

“(In the second quarter) we started to play a little better. It was nothing major, we just played better.”

The Panthers’ Austin McMaster and Colton Lindsey couldn’t have shot much better. McMaster made 10-of-14 field goal attempts as he scored 23 points. Lindsey — who filled in for the foul-plagued Colin Kennedy — was 5-of-5 from the field and scored 10 points.

Nathan Copley was also in double figures for the Panthers with 14 points.

Chesapeake’s defense limited Fairland to 9 points in the third quarter as they extended the lead to 49-42.

The Panthers built a 9-point lead in the fourth quarter before Matt Bloomfield scored with 7:04 left to get Fairland within 49-46. But Chesapeake went on a 6-0 run and the Dragons could never get any closer.

Chad Fisher led three Dragons in double figures with 17 points. Bloomfield scored 13 and Jon Baise added 10.
