PROCTORVILLE — An eastern Lawrence County man has been charged with three counts of rape in connection with several alleged incidents involving the same teenaged girl.

Robert L. Wilks, 49, of 572 County Road 12, Proctorville, was arrested Friday and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

He was arraigned Monday in Lawrence County Municipal Court.

Judge Donald Capper set bond at $100,000 and ordered Wilks to return to court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

The victim, a 17-year-old girl, told authorities Wilks raped her more than once over a period of a couple of years. According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office report, Wilks told authorities the sex was consensual.

Wilks remains in jail.
