ASHLAND, Ky. — Bombs away.

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets hit eight 3-pointers to trigger a 57-32 win over the Rose Hill Lady Royals on Saturday.

Jacy Jones poured in 20 points including three trifectas to lead the Lady Hornets.

Leah Crum hit three 3-pointers for 9 points and Morgan Sites also had 9 points in the win. Leslie Mulkey pulled down 11 rebounds.

Myriah Porters scored 9 pionts and Paige Brammer and Kendra Steele had 8 points each for Rose Hill (0-2).

The Lady Hornets (1-1) bolted to a 16-2 first quarter lead as Leah Crum hit a pair of 3-pionters while Sites and Brittany Webb had one long bomb each.

Coal Grove went cold in the second quarter and scored just 2 points and the lead was 18-14 at the half.

But the Lady Hornets found their shooting touch again in the third quarter as they outscored the Lady Royals 25-8 to take a 43-22 lead. Jones scored 12 points in the quarter including 7-of-9 from the foul line.

Coal Grove did a better job taking care of the ball in the second half. After committing eight turnovers in the first half, the Lady Hornets had just three in the second half.
