An Ironton couple will face drug trafficking charges in Ironton Municipal Court on Thursday.

Lori Knipp, 48, and Billy J. Barnett, 38, both of 2615 S. Fifth St., were arrested at 8 p.m. Tuesday following the execution of a search warrant at their home.

“This was a drug task force undercover investigation for the last several months that led to the search warrant and arrest,” County Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson said.

At the house nine oxycodone pills, alprazolam, $7,500 in cash and a shotgun were seized by officers of the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, the sheriff’s office and the Ironton Police Department.

“This is a significant bust,” Anderson said. “There have been complaints from this house from citizens for years. It will good for the community to get these people off street.”

The pair faces charges of possession of drugs, a fourth-degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony and trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.
