BURLINGTON — On Thursday night citizens of Lawrence County will get the opportunity to get to know those running for office in the upcoming primary elections.

The Concerned Citizens of the Burlington Area will host a “Meet the Candidates” event at 6 p.m. at Burlington Elementary School. Several prospective candidates are scheduled to be in attendance including all four hopefuls for the open county commissioner’s seat.

“We have nine confirmed candidates who will be in attendance,” said Ed Moellendick, President of the CCBA. “The four candidates for county commissioner will be there along with a candidate running for congressman for our district.”

Also scheduled will be County Auditor Jason Stephens and representatives of candidates running for state offices.

Each candidate will have an opportunity to speak about the issues they think are important to southern Ohio, followed by a question and answer session with Lawrence County voters.

“This event is about making each voter more informed,” Moellendick said. “It’s important to know what each candidate stands for and who you are casting your vote for. This event will provide a unique chance for voters to mingle with potential representatives.”

The CCBA was started in 1981, and has hosted “Meet the Candidates” for more than 20 years. For more information about the CCBA or this event visit www.facebook.com/ConcernedCitizensof theBurlingtonArea.
