Although several nuggets of evidence were left at the scene, it is unknown who vandalized doors and windows at the Lawrence County One-Stop.

A large pile of macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets was blocking the Second Street entrance when employees arrived at Ohio Means Jobs on Monday. The doors of the Second Street entrance and two windows closer to the corner of Second and Center streets were covered in cheese that appeared to have been spread by hand.

“I tried to get in but couldn’t,” Jamie Lewis, who works in the WIC office, said. “It’s nasty and extremely odd that someone would do this.”

Whether the alleged act of vandalism is symbolic of something will likely remain a mystery.

“It’s pretty rough and we have no clue about who or why,” Trish Johnson, Ohio Means Jobs special programs coordinator, said. “We are waiting on the police to get here now but I think all we will do is give them a statement then get this cleaned up.”

As of press time the Ironton Police Department had not completed a report on the incident.
