VINCENT — The biggest shot in the game didn’t come at the end of the game, but the end of the first half.

Brea Tackett’s 40-foot trifecta just before the first half buzzer ignited the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers to a 52-44 win over the Warren Lady Warriors Saturday in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game.

“Brea wasn’t even supposed to get the ball, but they took away the other options we wanted,” said Ironton coach Doug Graham.

“That was a big shot. Instead of being down seven at the half, we were down three and then they missed a layup to start the second half. That’s a possible 9-point swing. It changed the momentum.”

Ironton lead 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Taylor Dolak scored 11 points in the second quarter to give Warren a 28-21 lead. Tackett then hit her shot and it was 28-24 at the break.

“A lot of (Dolak’s) shots were contested, she just caught fire and they were able to get a lead on us,” said Graham. “We put Janie (Morris) on her in the second half along with Rebekkah Potter and they did a good job.”

Morris hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points to start the second half and Ironton came back to take a 37-36 lead.

The Lady Fighting Tigers then outscored Warren 15-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Ironton (11-5, 7-3) had three players in double figures led by Nikki Elswick with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Tackett and Lorna Ceaser scored 10 points and Morris 9.

Morris also had 6 rebounds while Tackett had 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Dolak finished with 17 for Warren (6-8, 4-5).
