An acclaimed group of singers is coming to an Ironton church just in time for the holidays.

The Marietta Bible College Choir is set to perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church, located at 304 S. Fifth St. in Ironton. The event will be free and open to the public.

The college caters mostly to international students from the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Africa who are studying to be missionaries.

The choir of about 120 students, which tours heavily, has previously sang at several churches in the area, including Zoar Baptist Church and Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church.

The performance will consist of traditional gospel music, with about half the song selection themed to the Christmas holiday season.

Accompanying the choir will be Dr. Myron Guiler, who teaches at the college and has served as the pastor of Marietta Bible Center Church, a non-denominational church, since 1958.

Guiler, 81, has been a minister for 51 years and has preached in 44 countries. He will deliver a 30-minute sermon after the performance of the choir.
