Henninge sentenced to three years in prison

An Ironton man who made threats against students at Ohio University Southern admitted his guilt Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Ruben Henninge, 28, of 803 S. Sixth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of making terroristic threats. The man was arrested in December after posting the treat in an online chat room.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Henninge to three years in prison with a possible judicial release after 18 months.

In an unrelated case, pointing a fake gun at people and trying to hide that gun from police earned an Ironton man three years in prison.

Todd McCann, 42, of 657 County Road 119, Ironton, pleaded no contest to a third-degree count of tampering of evidence and a misdemeanor count of inducing panic. Cooper found the man guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison.

According to assistant prosecuting attorney Mack Anderson, in October, McCann was riding a bicycle around Ironton and pointed a fake gun at residents, several of whom called the police. When police found McCann, he was riding his bike on State Route 93, at which time he threw the gun into the woods, leading to the tampering charge.

In other cases:

• Matthew Mullens, 23, of 131 Township Road 1426, South Point, was re-arraigned on a first-degree count of rape. During his original arraignment on Tuesday, Mullens was informed he could receive a maximum sentence of 11 years prison for a felony of the first degree. Since the alleged victim in the case is less than 10 years old, the actual maximum penalty would be life in prison.

Cooper kept the bond at $1 million and the pretrial date of April 20.

• Andrew Holland, 32, of 1456 County Road 17, South Point, was arraigned on one fourth-, one second- and two third-degree counts of trafficking in drugs (meth), a first-degree count of aggravated trafficking in drugs and a fourth-degree count of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Cooper set bond at $250,000 cash or surety and a pretrial was set for April 20.

• Carl Holsten, 48, of 401 Center St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to one fourth- and three third-degree counts of trafficking in drugs. Cooper sentenced the man to eight years in prison with a possible judicial release after five years.

• Chrystal Lewis, 34, of 1405 S. Fourth St., Ironton, appeared in Judge D. Scott Bowling’s courtroom for her competency evaluation to be admitted. The evaluation concluded she is competent to stand trial and does not meet the criteria for a not guilty by reason of insanity plea. She faces charges of third-degree failure to comply with the order or signal of police officer, fourth-degree theft of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

• Buddy A. Jenkins, 35, of 110 Fernwood Drive, Coal Grove, was sentenced to four years in prison and a one-year driver’s license suspension for multiple trafficking charges. He previously pleaded guilty to one fifth- and three fourth-degree counts of trafficking in heroin and three fifth-degree counts of complicity to trafficking in heroin.

• Kristin Burton, 43, of 1524 Beech St., Kenova, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of theft from Wal-Mart. Bowling ordered a presentence investigation and set sentencing for May 11.

• Stewart Scott Jr., 51, of 1903 S. Second St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of DUI and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Bowling set sentencing for May 25.

• Brennan Thornburg, 21, of 8130 County Road 1 Lot 49, South Point, pleaded guilty to charges of fifth-degree theft and fifth-degree forgery. Bowling sentenced the man to treatment in lieu of conviction, which will include STAR, 200 hours community service and weekly reporting and drug tests.

• William Webb, 30, of 153 Township Road 362, South Point, was sentenced to 18 months in prison with a possible judicial release to STAR after one year for counts of fifth-degree theft and receiving stolen property, to which he previously pleaded guilty. Bowling also ordered the man to pay $285 restitution.

• Keith Slutz, 43, of 710 N. Eighth St., Ironton, was arraigned on a bill of information of two third-degree counts of intimidation, to which he pleaded guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR plus GPS. Sentencing was set for April 20.

•Harold Dameron Jr., 33, of 3840 Township Road 250, South Point, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree possession of drugs, to which he pleaded guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR and $20,000 cash or surety. Sentencing was set for April 20.

• Summer Meade, 26, of 213 Comfort Suites, South Point, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, to which she pleaded guilty. Bowling sentenced the woman to treatment in lieu of conviction, which includes STAR.

• Steven Horsley, 35, of 4114 Skidmore St., Ashland, was arraigned on a count of fifth-degree forgery, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 cash or surety plus $10,000 OR and GPS monitoring. A pretrial was set for April 27.

• Joseph Thompson, 38, of 1046 N. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to one fourth- and two fifth-degree counts of trafficking in heroin and a fourth-degree count of complicity to trafficking in heroin. Bowling sentenced the man to four years in prison.

• Alison Lewis, 33, of 66 Private Drive 515, Ironton, was arraigned on a fourth-, fifth-and third-degree count of trafficking in drugs, third-degree tampering with evidence and third-degree illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, to which she pleaded not guilty.

Bowling set bond at $15,000 cash or surety plus $15,000 OR and GPS monitoring. A pretrial was set for April 27.

• Shane Yates, 28, of 409 Center St., Ironton, was arraigned on a fourth-degree count of trafficking in heroin, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR plus GPS. A pretrial was set for April 27.
