SCIOTOVILLE — Kaitlyn Payne and Stephanie Brown did their impression of the Dynamic Duo.

Payne and Brown each pitched one-hitters as the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings swept the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans 7-0 and 16-1 in five innings on Tuesday.

“Both of those girls pitched well. I was really pleased with both of them. They had 28 strikeouts between them and just three walks in 12 innings,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Payne struck out 18 and walked two as the Lady Vikings blanked East 7-0 in the first game. Brown fanned 10 and walked one in a 16-1 rout.

Payne also went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Brown was 2-3 with a double and Kara Saunders 2-2 in the first game.

In the first game, the Lady Vikings got a run in the first when Taylor Webb reached on a fielder’s choice and Payne doubled her home.

Symmes Valley (10-0, 7-0) made it 2-0 in the third when Payne doubled and scored on ground outs by Tiara Hatfield and Sierra Ross.

The lead went to 6-0 in the fifth.

Webb doubled, stole third, Payne walked and Hatfield singled in the runners. Sarah Kingery reached on an error for a run and Kara Saunders had an RBI single.

The final run scored in the sixth when Brown doubled and came home after a ground out and Payne’s sacrifice fly.

In the second game, the Lady Vikings collected 10 hits en route to the easy win.

Hatfield went 3-3 with a double and four RBIs to lead the onslaught. Webb was 2-3 with a triple.

Symmes Valley visits Russell at 7:30 on Friday and on Saturday plays at Ashland at 1 p.m. and faces Spring Valley at Ashland at 3:30.
