Suspect will be extradited

A Huntington man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of the Pizza Hut in Proctorville.

Rodney G. White II, 37, of 528 Baltimore Ave., was arrested in Huntington on Wednesday evening by the U.S. Marshals, according to a release from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

White is charged with a first-degree count of aggravated robbery and he will be extradited to Ohio at a later date. He is being held in Western Regional Jail.

The release stated tips from informants pointed to White’s location in Huntington.

“I then reached out to the U.S. Marshals for their assistance in apprehending White on our warrant due to the fact he remained outside the jurisdiction of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office,” sheriff Jeff Lawless said in the release.

White allegedly robbed the Pizza Hut on May 7, wearing a bandana around his face. He allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded money from the register. He allegedly pushed the manager and grabbed a small amount of cash and fled on foot.

During the alleged robbery, the bandana slipped off White’s face and employees were able to get a look at his face, which they later allegedly picked out of a photo lineup. The firearm was later determined to be a toy gun.

“I am pleased that the public’s tips were able to help get this suspect off the street in short order,” Lawless said in the release. “It amazes me that people will risk going to prison for 10-plus years of their life and put other people’s lives in danger for a very small amount of cash.”
