Pastry chefs are invited to bring their best efforts to the Lawrence County Museum at the inaugural pie contest at 1 p.m. Saturday.

“We try to have something every month to encourage people to come into the museum,” Kay Rader, member of the Lawrence County Historical Society, said.

The only requirement is that the pie be homemade. Any flavor or style will be welcomed.

The museum is open every weekend from 1-4 p.m. through December.

“A lot of our visitors are from out of town looking for our heritage,” Rader said.

At 1 p.m. Aug. 14 Ohio University Southern professor David Lucas will give a talk about the circuit riders and on Aug. 27 will be the second sing-a-long honoring former Dawson-Bryant High School music director Lloyd Richman.
