Events taking place at all locations

Preschool age children celebrated the arrival of fall, despite the summer temperatures, at Toddler Time at the Briggs Lawrence Public Library in Ironton on Tuesday.

The event was one of the library system’s many activities for families this week.

“We had our fall theme today,” Jan Gullett, the librarian who hosted the event, said. “We read books about leaves and the fall and animals, like “‘The Very Busy Squirrel.’”

She said, after story time, the children worked on fall crafts, making trees and leaves from construction paper, sang songs and colored.

Other activities are scheduled for the library’s branches, including Preschool Storytime at South Point at 11 a.m. today, followed by the Tween Book Club at 4 p.m.

Preschool Storytime will take place on Thursday in Chesapeake at 11 a.m., followed by a Harvest Craft Buffet at 4 p.m. at the same location.

The South Point branch will be hosting a book and bake sale on Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and author Marilyn Thornton Schraff will appear at the Ironton location at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
