Get out the white paint. It’s whitewash time.
The St. Joseph Flyers posted their second shutout of the season as they blanked the Portsmouth West Senators 3-0 in a soccer game on Tuesday.
“Our team played very well tonight.  We went up 3-0 in the first half and it allowed
us to rest the starters and get everyone playing time.  It was a good team effort,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.
“Our defense played great getting their second shutout of the year.  They transitioned
the ball well allowing us to be on the attack most of the first half.”
Isaac Whaley took care of the scoring for St. Joseph as he recorded a hat trick by getting all three goals. Jackson Rowe had two assists.
Goalkeeper Jimmy Mahlmeister had 10 saves in posting the shutout. Noah Nichols had seven saves as the West goalie.
St. Joseph had 17 shots with 10 on goal, nine corner kicks, seven fouls and four offside penalties.
West had 19 shots with 10 on goal, eight fouls and one offside penalty.
The Flyers host unbeaten Northwest on Thursday. It will be senior night.
