WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings took their time and as a result took a victory.
The Lady Vikings practiced patience as they downed the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans 56-23 on Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“We didn’t rush ourselves. We worked the ball around in the first half and got good shots,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Alvin Carpenter.
Symmes Valley (3-2, 2-2) was led by Jensyn Shepherd with 22 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Rachael Hayes had a solid all-around game with 11 points, two assists and five steals. Hailee Littlejohn grabbed 13 rebounds and had two assists, Taylor Sells got nine rebounds and Kaitlyn Crabtree had seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Grace Smith scored 14 points to lead East.
The Lady Vikings roared to an 18-2 first quarter lead as Shepherd scored eight and Crabtree had all six of her points.
Shepherd got eight more points and Hayes scored six on a pair of 3-pointers as the lead grew to 36-7 at the half.
Symmes Valley coasted in the second half by outscoring East 20-16 in the second half.
On Thursday, the Lady Vikings visit Portsmouth Clay.
