IRONTON — Inspections on the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge wrapped up Wednesday afternoon and the bridge is open to traffic.

As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s annual bridge inspection program, bridge inspectors from the ODOT District 9 and Central Office bridge departments have been working to complete a series of routine inspections of the bridge’s cables, towers and deck.

Although the project was met with some weather-related delays on Tuesday, the team of inspectors were able to return to Wednesday to complete the inspections and reopen the bridge in advance of the projected 4 p.m. schedule.

In addition to completing the inspections early, the inspectors were able to work ahead of the anticipated three-day schedule to complete the entire examination of the bridge, and as such, the bridge will not be closed on Thursday.
