HUNTINGTON — Under the direction of Dr. Michael Stroeher, the Brass Band of the Tri-State will perform its annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Smith Music Recital Hall at Marshall University.

The ensemble performs traditional brass band music from England and North America, original pieces arranged specifically for the band, musicals, marches, orchestral transcriptions, Salvation Army Band music and other popular selections. The Brass Band of the Tri-State is also a proud member of the prestigious North American Brass Band Association.

Tonight’s concert will open with the Scottish Air, Charlie Is My Darling, followed by an arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Arioso, with Philip Sparke’s multi-movement, Music for a Festival, rounding out the first half. The second half will open with another Philip Sparke multi-movement work, The Four Noble Truths, with an arrangement of the spiritual Deep River concluding the show.
