ROME TOWNSHIP — The Wyngate at RiversEdge senior living community hosted its fourth annual brunch with the Easter Bunny on Friday for children and their families, and although the weather outside was cool and rainy, Wyngate Activities

Director Julie Poff said the event was its largest yet.

“We had every bit of 350 people here,” she said. “The Wyngate is all about doing something for the community every month.”

The Easter Bunny was on hand at the brunch for photos, and there were also live chicks and ducks, provided by Tractor Supply Company, live rabbits, provided by a local 4-H group, and an Easter egg hunt with 12 “lucky” eggs containing prizes.

“We probably had around 200-plus kids here,” Poff said. “They love the Easter Bunny, but they really love the live animals. The kids just surround those tubs where the live animals are, and they’re able to pick them up and hold them, which they really enjoy.”

A farmer’s market and craft show is the Wyngate’s April community event, and is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 21. Poff said vendors are still being sought, and booths are free.
