Drug cases, probation violations heard in common pleas court

This week’s Lawrence County Common Pleas Court cases saw numerous defendants plead guilty to crimes.

• Glenna J. Booth, 35, of 1119 S. Third St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all third-degree felonies. Judge Charles Cooper set sentencing for May 2 and set a $50,000 OR bond until then.

• Destiny O. Cade, 26, of 631 Ashtabula St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. In a separate case, she pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set sentencing for May 9 and set a $50,000 OR bond until then.

• Jonathan S. Eden, age and address unknown, denied community-controlled sanctions (CCS) violations. Cooper set CCS trial for May 2.

• Andrew A. McClain, 30, of 411 Walnut St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), both third-degree felonies. Cooper set sentencing for May 2 and set a $50,000 OR bond until then.

• Terry J. Nance, age unknown, of 308 Washington St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (Suboxone), all fourth-degree felonies. Cooper set sentencing for May 9 and set a $50,000 OR bond until then.

• Randy L. Newcomb, 37, of 1119 S. Third St., Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to four counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all felonies of the third-degree. He will receive a final offer from the state on May 2. If he denies that offer, Cooper set trial for May 24 and 25.

• Clayton A. Pate, 34, of 86 Township Road 347, Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to intimidation, a third-degree felony, assault on a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony, and harassment by inmate, a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set pretrial for May 16.

• Shannon L. Reaper, 43, of 2425 S. Fourth St., Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and disrupting public service, a fourth-degree felony. He will receive a final offer from the state on May 2. If he denies that offer, Cooper set trial for May 17 and 18.

• Shawn C. Roach, 24, of 121 Township Road 1105, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to five counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), three fourth-degree and two third-degree felonies. Cooper set sentencing for May 2, and set a $50,000 OR bond until then.

• Dara L. Rowe, 39, of 13 Township Road 372, Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. Cooper set pretrial for May 2 and trial for July 9 and 10.

• Robert L. Watkins, 57, of 4647 County Road 52, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (Oxycodone), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set sentencing for May 9 and continued his bond until then.

• Candace Blankenship, 32, of 421 Township Road 279W, South Point, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony. Judge Andy Ballard set bond at $75,000 OR and ordered her to be placed on home confinement until pretrial. Pretrial was set for April 25.

• Derick Blankenship, 28, of 50 County Road 5, Kitts Hill, previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine, fentanyl), one first-degree and one third-degree felony, and two counts of possession of drugs (fentanyl, methamphetamine), one fifth-degree and one second-degree felony. Ballard set trial for May 7 and 8.

• Corey Brewer, age and address unknown, admitted CCS violations. Ballard sentenced him to 736 days in prison.

• April Bryant, 35, of 235 Memorial St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (methylphenidate hydrochloride, amphetamine/dextroamphetamine), all third-degree felonies. Ballard ordered her to be placed on GPS home confinement until sentencing, which he set for April 25.

• Andrea Christian, 26, of 1597 Martha Court, #21A, Lexington, Kentucky, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. She was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Ballard ordered her to complete treatment at Mended Reeds and 300 hours community service.

• Christopher Ervin, 51, of 2803 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $1,000 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $15,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for May 9.

• Zachary Farrow, 37, of 808 Chinn St., Russell, Kentucky, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. He was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Ballard ordered him to complete treatment and 200 hours community service.

• Alecia Fell, 33, of 784 County Road 411, Apt. 403, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (Oxycodone), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $3,185 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $25,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for May 2.

• Bryton Harden, 22, of 3571 Balls Branch Road, Culloden, West Virginia, pleaded not guilty to improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a felony of the fifth-degree. Ballard continued a $5,000 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $25,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for May 2.

• Eric Lawson, 39, of 605 N. Kenova Road, South Point, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set sentencing for May 9, and bond remained the same.

• Cody Perkey, 22, of 108 Shannon Court, South Point, previously pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a misdemeanor of the first-degree. In another case, he previously pleaded not guilty to three counts of breaking and entering, all fifth-degree felonies, and two counts of burglary, both second-degree felonies. He will have a final offer on April 25, and if he declines, trial is set for May 14 and 15.

• Kelli A. Poindexter, 43, of 951 Jefferson Ave., Huntington, West Virginia, pleaded not guilty to grand theft, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $2,500 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $25,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for May 9.

• Brian Samples, age unknown, of 1002 ½ 13th St., Huntington, West Virginia, pleaded not guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $7,500 cash or surety bond from lower court and set a $25,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for April 25.

• Ashley Slone-Rhodes, 27, of 2803 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard continued a $5,000 OR bond from lower court and set another $25,000 OR bond. Pretrial was set for May 9.

• Ellen Witten, 60, of 3116 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. She failed a drug screen, and her bond was raised to $125,000 cash or surety and $125,000 OR. Pretrial was set for April 25.

• Gerrica Woodyard, 24, of 228 Township Road 1287, Chesapeake, previously pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (alprazolam). She was unable to go to STAR and was resentenced on Wednesday to treatment at Mended Reeds and 300 hours community service.

• Aaron Workman, 30, of 512 State Route 373, Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third-degree. He denied the state’s final offer of seven years in prison. He is facing a maximum of 18 years behind bars if found guilty at trial. Ballard set trial for July 16 and 17.

• Heather Henry, age and address unknown, denied CCS violations. Ballard set CCS trial for April 25.
