PROCTORVILLE — Those soliciting funds for causes and organizations will no longer be allowed to do on the main street of the village of Proctorville.

Mayor Rick Dunfee said the village council voted at last week’s meeting to pass a resolution banning solicitation on County Road 107/State Street. He said safety and liability were the motivations for the vote, citing the heavy traffic on the street and the potential financial cost to the village if there were an accident

Dunfee said the council also discussed the upcoming May 8 primary in the state, in which Proctorville will have a 3-mill levy on the ballot for funding the police department, which he hopes voters will pass.

Dunfee also reminded residents that the Proctorville village yard sale is set for Saturday, May 5, beginning at 8 a.m. He said, on the same day, Union Township will host its spring clean up and that residents may drop off larger items at that event.
