Baldwin, Scott earn berth in regional meet

CHILLICOTHE — And now there are two.
With mostly running preliminaries and a handful of field events, one boy and one girl qualified for the Division III regional track meet during the first day of the district meet on Wednesday at Southeastern High School.
The second day of the meet will be held on Saturday at Southeastern High School. The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet next Tuesday and Friday at Lancaster Fairfield Union High School.
Coal Grove senior Kimo Baldwin was third in the discus with a toss of 133-5 and will advance to the regional meet.
In the girls’ meet, Rock Hill’s Maddie Scott punched her ticket to the regional meet with a heave of 33-10.25 to place fourth.
Also in the boys’ discus, Coal Grove’s Austin Stapleton was seventh with a distance of 115-9.
Coal Grove’s 4×800 relay team was sixth with a time of 9:31. The quartet was comprised of Tristan Wiseman, Nathaniel Brumett, Luke Ferguson and Evan Holmes.
The Hornets Nate Harmon was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-11.5.
