CHESAPEAKE — The South Point Pointers got creative.
The Pointers created some scoring opportunities as they battled past the Chesapeake Panthers 3-1 in an Ohio Valley Conference soccer game on Tuesday.
“We were fortunate to create a lot of chances with our speed and played much better in the second half to get a big win after they swept us last year,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy.
“Chesapeake was impressive with a lot of possession. (Chesapeake’s) Cameron King makes everyone around him better.”
South Point (2-1-1, 1-1-1) took the lead on a goal by Oriris Kessinger with an assist by Drew Smith just five minutes into the game.
Chesapeake came back to tie the game four minutes later on an unassisted goal by Bryson Haynes.
The Pointers took the lead at the 44-minute mark on an unassisted goal by Marquise Yancey.
Drew Smith added some breathing room on a goal by Smith with an assist by Tyler Lilly with 76:00 on the clock.
Pointers’ goalkeeper Jaylon Thornhill had four saves. Chesapeake’s keeper Elijah Snyder had seven saves.
South Point visits Minford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
