Tire amnesty events next two Fridays

Held by Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District

The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District announced that it would be conducting two tire amnesty events in the coming weekends for residents wishing to properly dispose of passenger and light truck tires.

As part of the program, the district requests that you must provide proof of Lawrence County residency; an Ohio driver’s license is required; a limit of 10 tires per person will be accepted; tires must be off of the rims; and no businesses will be permitted.

The dates and times of the events are as follows:

• Friday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Burlington-Fayette Volunteer Fire Department, located at 7681 County Road 1, Burlington.

• Friday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds entrance off of County Road 411 in Proctorville.

The district also requests that you remain in your vehicle for the tires to be unloaded in a timely manner. The district’s enforcement officer will also be present to verify your residency.
