SOUTH POINT — The Lawrence County Festival of Trees and Christmas Market, sponsored by A&L Home Care and Training Center, LLC, will take place Friday and Saturday at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, located at 216 Collins Ave. in South Point.

The event is free and open to the public. Hours will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations will be on display and available for bid through a silent auction, with all proceeds benefitting community development and student scholarships in Lawrence County. The outdoor Christmas Market will feature more than 20 vendors selling unique, handmade and handcrafted items. Area food trucks will be on hand for concessions. Activities and live entertainment will also be offered each day.

New this year to kick off the festival is the Lawrence County Luminary 5K, sponsored by Armstrong, which will be run through The Point industrial park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Luminaries will light up a paved path along the route. The entry fee is $20 before Nov. 15 and $25 on race day, with all proceeds benefitting the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Academic Scholarship Fund.

Participants are encouraged to wear Christmas costumes with a prize awarded for the best one. To register for the 5K, visit TriStateRacer.com.

A new event is also scheduled for this year. “Drive-Thru Christmas: The Life of Christ,” is a live nativity through The Point industrial park, presented by Jeremiah 38 Ministries and 15 area churches. Admission is free for the nativity, but donations to Jeremiah 38 Ministries will be accepted. The nativity will run 6-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is sponsored by Quality Care Nursing Services.

This event will provide a unique experience for the family. From the warmth of your car: see, hear and feel the entire gospel of Christ as it is narrated through phone or by CD. From the manger to the resurrection, 14 different scenes will be displayed throughout the drive.

Refreshments will be available at the conclusion of the drive.
