FRANKLIN FURNACE — This Sampson doesn’t get his strength from long hair. He gets it from leadership.
With leading scorer Tanner Kimbler out due to an injury, Gage Sampson has stepped up his offensive game and this time he had 26 points as the Green Bobcats beat the Manchester Greyhounds 60-47 on Saturday.
Sampson had 22 points in a win over Sciotoville East on Friday.
“Sampson dominated inside tonight. (Caden) Blizzard did a good job doing the little things like boxing out, making the extra pass and taking care of the ball,” said Green coach Dirk Hollar.
Tayte Carver and Zach Huffman added 10 points each for Green (5-3).
“The Huffmans (Zach and Ethan) were very active defensively and both were able to get out in transition to chip in with the scoring. Troy Otworth came off the bench and provided energy and hustle. We are moving the ball really well and getting good looks,” said Hollar.
Isaiah Scott had 16 points and Jacob Calvert 10 for Manchester.
Green led 17-10 after the first quarter as Sampson scored 12 points. Scott had six for Manchester.
Zach Huffman got six points and Blizzard hit a 3-pointer and had five points in the second quarter and the lead was 34-26 at the half.
Scott hit a 3-pointer and scored six points in the quarter.
The defense held Manchester to nine points in the third quarter as Green stretched its lead to 49-35. Sampson pumped in 10 points in the quarter while Ethan Huffman hit a trey and scored five.
Green hosts New Boston on Tuesday.
