Hornets beat Redmen in OT

COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Hornets had the perfect plan. Get the Rock Hill Redmen to overtime and you get a win.
In their last five games, Rock Hill has lost four games in overtime after the Hornets came away with a 63-59 Ohio Valley Conference win on Tuesday.
Coal Grove (7-3, 2-2) and Rock Hill (3-7, 0-4) were tied at 54 after regulation. Coal Grove then got four points from Tait Matney, three points from Aaron Music and a basket by Evan Gannon to outscore Rock Hill 9-5 in overtime.
Matney was 2-for-2 and Music 1-2 from the foul line in overtime. Owen Hankins was 1-for-2 from the line for the Redmen while Kadin France and Logan Hankins each had a basket.
Cory Borders and Music had 15 points each to lead the Hornets. Gannon scored 12 and Nate Harmon added 10 points.
Music also collected his 500th career rebound.
Logan Hankins scored a career-high 27 points for the Redmen. He also had seven rebounds and two steals.
Kadin France had another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Braden Stamper added 12 points.
Rock Hill led 10-9 after the first quarter as Logan Hankins and France got four points each. Harmon hit a pair of 3-pointers for the Hornets.
Borders had two 3-pointers and eight points with Gannon and Music each hitting a trifecta as Coal Grove rallied to take a 25-23 lead at the half.
Payten Smith and Harmon had four points each as the Hornets pushed the lead to 38-35. Logan Hankins scored six points.
In the fourth quarter, Logan Hankins got hot and scored 10 points including a trifecta while Stamper was 4-of-4 at the line as he scored six points to help the Redmen tie the game.
Music had six points, Gannon five and Borders four in the quarter.
On Friday, Rock Hill visits Portsmouth and Coal Grove hosts Chesapeake.
