JACKSON — One minute does not a game make.
Harley Lyons scored to put Fairland up 2-0 but Zane Trace’s Emily Allen scored at the 7:02 mark to tie the game.
OK, that’s enough.
Allie Marshall scored at the 6:40 mark to trigger an 18-0 run and the Fairland Lady Dragons went on to rout the Lady Pioneers 52-13 on Wednesday in the Division III sectional tournament.
Fairland (18-4) will play in the sectional finals at 4:30 p.m. Saturday against Lucasville Valley who beat Westfall 55-43
The Lady Dragons led 25-5 at the end of the first quarter and extended the spread to a comfortable 35-9 at the half as Haleigh Fuller came off the bench to hit a basket for Fairland with 2:13 on the second quarter clock.
Two foul shots by Mia Howard put Fairland ahead 48-9. Lauren Lane’s foul shot for the Lady Pioneers with 47 seconds left ended the scoring drought and was their only point in the quarter.
Allie Marshall had 12 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and two blocks to pace Fairland.
Lyons added seven points, Kelsie Warnock had six rebounds and two assists. Emma Marshall had five steals and two assists.
Allen had seven points and 12 rebounds for Zane Trace (2-21).
