Flyers, Payne notch 6-2 soccer win over Dragons

You wear a hat in baseball, a visor in golf and a helmet in football. But there is no head gear in soccer.
That didn’t stop Ryan Payne from sporting his own hat as the St. Joseph Flyers beat the West Union Dragons 6-2 on Tuesday.
Payne donned a hat trick as he racked up three goals to help the Flyers improve to 8-2 on the season.
Jackson Rowe, Michael Mahlmeister and J.C. Damron also scored goals for the Flyers while Zach Roach, Bryce Balestra, Zachary Johnson, Rowe and Payne all had an assist.
St. Joseph goalkeeper Jimmy Mahlmeister was solid once again as he had nine saves.
Zane Kingsolver and Careron Campbell each scored a goal for West Union while goalie Colt Parker had 10 saves.
The Flyers had 24 shots with 16 on goal, three fouls, seven offside penalties, three corner kicks and six free kicks.
West Union had 16 shots with 11 on goal, six fouls, two corner kicks and three free kicks.
St. Joseph host Chesapeake on Thursday.
