Carey, Whitt key Lady Pointers over New Boston

NEW BOSTON — Thank goodness for Emilee. Oh, and don’t forget Emilee.
Emilee Carey hit 3-of-5 3-pointers and scored 15 points while Emilee Whitt had 10 points to help the Lady Pointers to a 43-40 win over the New Boston Lady Tigers on Saturday.
Lexus Oiler score 12 points and Kanzie Whitley 10 for New Boston (11-5).
Carey hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points as South Point took a 7-6 first quarter lead.
The Lady Pointers went up 16-11 at the half as Carey hit two more treys and Maddy Khounlavong a third. Whitley had all 5 of New Boston’s points.
The Lady Tigers made a comeback in the third quarter as Lexus and Sammy Oiler combined for 9 points and South Point led just 27-26.
Diamond Crawley hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Carey added two baskets for the Lady Pointers.
With the lead exchanging hands several times in the fourth quarter, Whitt scored 8 points including 4-of-4 from the line. She made two free throws with 25 seconds to play that gave the Lady Pointers the 43-40 lead.
New Boston’s desperation 3-pointer was well off the mark as South Point (7-5) held on for their fourth straight win.
South Point has a home game Monday with Fairland and Greenup County on Wednesday.
