LUCASVILLE — Addi Dillow wasn’t a one-woman team. It just seemed that way.
Dillow made 16-of-34 shots including five 3-pointers as she scored 39 points to lead the Coal Grove Lady Hornets to a 74-49 win over the Piketon Lady Redstreaks in the Division 3 sectional tournament on Monday.
“Dillow wanted to win. She hustled on defense which led to some steals and easy layups,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Rick Roach. “On the flip side, Piketon’s defense did not have an answer for her. She was able to drive and knock down some outside shots.”
Kaleigh Murphy added 13 points as Coal Grove (17-6) advanced to the sectional finals to play Alexander at 1 p.m. Saturday in Jackson.
Alexander — who beat Portsmouth 55-24 on Monday — downed Coal Grove 65-55 in a meeting on Jan. 4.
Piketon (9-14) was led by Hayleigh Risner with 16 points while Bailey Vulgamore scored 13.
Dillow hit a 3-pointer and scored 11 points in the first quarter as Coal Grove took a 20-11 lead. Risner got 8 points for Piketon.
Dillow made two more 3-pointers and scored 12 points while Murphy added 6 points and the Lady Hornets stretched the lead to 39-22 at the half.
“We played a little too aggressive early and sent them to the free throw line too much in the first half,” said Roach.
“We knew coming in that Piketon was a young team and we tried to capitalize off that youth and be more physical than them. I feel like it worked most of the time.”
Coal Grove continued to pull away as Dillow had 9 more points as she hit a pair of treys while Abbey Hicks scored 5 of her 7 points and it was 59-36.
Vulgamore had a 3-pointer and two free throws in each the second and third quarters for the Lady Redstreaks.
Dillow and Jaiden Griffith combined for 13 of Coal Grove’s 15 points in the fourth quarter.
“Our post players Murphy, Griffith and (Rylee) Harmon did a great job of rebounding throughout the night. It was also good to see Murphy getting to the basket and scoring tonight,” said Roach.
