COAL GROVE — Now that is what you call a total team effort.

Rock Hill coach Mary Harper played her entire roster as the Redwomen beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 17-0 in six innings Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“Our two pitchers did well and everyone got in the game and everyone contributed. It was a nice team effort,” said Harper.

Morgan Schug and Sami Nixon each pitched three innings as the combined on a two-hitter. Schug fanned four and walked one while Nixon struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Rock Hill (3-1, 2-0) took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the third.

Schug singled, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Brooke Hanshaw to start the first. Hanshaw scored on two wild pitches.

Lindy Simpson and Courtney Duncan were hit by pitches and Haylia Gannon had a two-run double.

Simpson walked and scored on an error in the third.

In the fourth, Nicole Stamper singled and went to third on an outfield error. Morgan Damron squeezed her home and then Chelsea Harper walked, stole second base and scored when the throw went into the outfield and it was 7-0.

Kaelynn Ellis walked and Brooke Eastham was hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning. They moved up on a wild pitch, Damron sacrifice a run in and Harper doubled to drive in the second run for a 9-0 lead.

Rock Hill put the game away with eight runs in the sixth inning on three walks, two hit batsmen and singles by Ashley Griffith, Stamper, Damron, Eastham and two by Donley.

Stamper and Donley each had two hits as the Redwomen collected 11 as a team.

Rock Hill hosts Fairland Friday in a league game.
