LAWRENCE COUNTY — Briggs Lawrence County Public Library invites children of all ages and their families to the final programs of the 2010 Children’s Summer Reading Club, “Let’s Go Swimming! A Modern Movement Exploration,” performed by members of the Jeslyn Dance Gallery of Huntington.

“Last year’s performance of “Where the Sidewalk Ends” was such a hit, we’ve invited the Jeslyn Dance Gallery back for this special performance to end our children’s summer reading club with a splash!” children’s librarian Cheryl Blankenship said.

“Your whole family won’t want to miss this professional modern dance company as they create a watery world through dance, song, sign language and more at your local Briggs Library. Prepare to be enlightened, entertained and amused.”

The Jeslyn Dance Gallery is based at the Jeslyn Performing Arts Center in Huntington, W. Va. and is under the directorship of its founder, Jessica Lynn Fox.

In addition to providing a home for the professional dance company, the center provides dance and movement instruction for all ages including ballet, modern dance, jazz, twirling, Pilates and yoga.

“The program was created with this year’s club theme in mind, “Make a Splash! Read,” Blankenship said. “Children in the summer reading club have enjoyed books, crafts and other activities related to the water this summer.”

“We frequently end our children’s summer events with a professional performance. Last year’s program was so good, we couldn’t resist inviting these talented local dancers back.”

The program lasts approximately 45 minutes followed by a 15 minute interactive session.
