Breaking and entering, felonious assault and burglary were among the charges getting attention Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Christopher Morrison, 49, of 96 Private Drive 63, Ironton, was arraigned on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count each of breaking and entering and vandalism. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Mike Gleichauf.

“Even though these are F-4s and F-5s (fourth and fifth-degree felonies) the defendant has an extensive criminal history,” Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Mack Anderson said in asking for a $50,000 bond for Morrison. “The charges involve him being in a stolen automobile at the time he broke into the BP on Charley Creek Road, did extensive damage to the building, busting out the front door.”

Gleichauf said he was not yet sure of the details of the case but asked that Morrison be released on his own recognizance.

Judge D. Scott Bowling set bond at $50,000 surety or property and set an April 8 pretrial conference.

Paul Sizemore, 50, of 41 Township Road 1377, South Point, was arraigned on one count of felonious assault. He pleaded not guilty through Gleichauf, who is also his attorney.

Bowling set an OR bond of $50,000 with electronic monitoring and ordered Sizemore to stay away from his alleged victim.

Sizemore is accused of assaulting another man with a crowbar Feb. 25.

Rose Wilson, 54, of 807 N. Fifth St., Ironton, was arraigned on one count of burglary. Her attorney, Samantha Fields, entered pleas of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. Bowling set bond at $25,000 property with electronic monitoring and ordered a mental evaluation for Wilson.

Stephen Eugene Branch, 18, of 630 County Road 60, Ironton, was arraigned on one count of attempt to commit burglary. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Philip Heald.

Branch is accused of trying to break into the house of an elderly couple who lived near where he was staying at the time.

“The facts indicate the elderly couple heard a noise and caught the defendant trying to break in,” Anderson said. He asked for a $20,000 OR bond for Branch and a restraining order. Heald said he didn’t think Branch had the means to post any bond.

“He has the ability to go elsewhere. Where he was was a temporary location. He wouldn’t have to be around the victim,” Heald said.

Bowling set a $20,000 OR bond with electronic monitoring and a restraining order. He told Branch to return to court April 8 for a pretrial conference.

Ivan P. Popov 26, 2618 S. 13th St., Ironton was arraigned on charges of felonious assault, kidnapping and misdemeanor domestic violence. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Mike Davenport. Bowling allowed bond set in Ironton Municipal Court to continue and scheduled an April 15 pretrial conference.
